THE STREETS OF NEW YORK ARE STILL BLOOMING
For many years, I would make a weekly trek to the flower market in New York City. I’d leave Philadelphia by 4:30am, in the dark, wee hours of the morning, and arrive to the market for the best pickings. Once I got there, I loved it. The sights, the smells, the camaraderie. Inspiration flowed and friendships bloomed naturally for many years.
BUT TIMES CHANGED
As Evantine Design grew and changed, the weekly market trips were fewer and far between. But recently I had the opportunity to stop by the Flower Market to see old friends and to check out what’s new. Many of the vendors I used to visit are gone {replaced by hotels!} but there is still a vibrant fresh flower and plant market thriving in the Big Apple!
FRESH FLOWERS ARE A GLOBAL BUSINESS
Today’s floral industry is completely different. Thirty years or so later, we are connected to flower markets around the globe by the internet, making the trip to the New York Flower Market a treat on a weekday morning, not a necessity.
